Watford’s Afobe pursuit – latest

Watford have stepped up their interest in Stoke striker Benik Afobe, Athleticism can confirm.

They are ready to offer the 29-year-old – who spent last season on loan at Millwall – a two-year deal, but it is not yet clear what fee Stoke would demand.

Afobe, who has a year left on his contract, has more than one offer on the table – including from an unnamed overseas team – and a decision on his future is expected to be made shortly.

Personal terms have yet to be agreed, but are key to ongoing negotiations. Afobe is believed to be open to working with Watford head coach Rob Edwards again after their experiences together at Wolves.

Meanwhile, Watford have agreed a deal to sign Ivory Coast striker Vakhoun Bayo from Charleroi and are targeting another striker. They also retain an interest in Aston Villa’s Cameron Archer.

Finding the right fitness watch can be a challenge for many users. There are several preferences to keep in mind. Do you prefer form to function? Is there a budget limitation? What are the essential smart features you wouldn’t compromise? What about fitness features?

My favorite smartwatch is the one with a sleek fit, precise steps and fitness tracking, and a few smart features. The Garmin Venu 2 Plus, which I’ve been using for two weeks, is one such device that does the trick. But is it the right fitness watch for you? Here is my opinion

Garmin Venu 2 Plus review: Yes, it’s expensive

The Garmin Venu 2 Plus is not a watch for those looking to get a fitness device on a budget. This is for someone looking for a high end fitness watch and wants something that looks good. The version I got for review has a striking gold stainless steel bezel with an ivory case and silicone band. There is also a silver and slate version for those who find the gold overwhelming.

Gold and ivory tones give the watch a break from a sea of monotonous black smartwatches. (Image source: The Indian Express/ Shruti Dhapola)

I liked the gold and ivory color tones, given that it’s a break from the monotonous black smartwatches I end up reviewing. It looks elegant enough to wear with evening wear, let’s even say when I’m wearing a saree etc. The only thing I don’t like about the Venu 2 Plus is that it feels a little big for my wrist size. The company says it fits those with 135mm to 200mm wrists, but it feels a bit larger on mine (139mm wrists, I measured).

Still, the 1.3-inch-diameter screen (416 x 416 pixel resolution) is one of the best you’ll get, and there’s plenty of room to show notifications, messages, and more. It’s a color AMOLED display with an Always-On mode.

Garmin Venu 2 Plus review: The smart features

It also comes with smart features including the ability to take calls on the watch. I’ve taken quite a bit of this, and the audio quality can be a bit dodgy at times. However, people on the other side heard me clearly most of the time, although my colleague pointed out that my voice sounded different. The watch should stay connected to your phone. This one doesn’t have LTE. But as long as the phone is in range, the call audio should be fine. I used it with an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The Garmin Venu 2 Plus will also show notifications from your device, although you can only clear them from the device. There is no option for quick replies as such. I don’t mind that, considering I consider the Garmin device to be more fitness-focused. Also, I’ve never been entirely comfortable responding to notifications from a smartwatch.

garmin, garmin venus 2 plus, garmin venus 2 plus review, You can also store songs from Spotify on the device, but it can be a cumbersome task. (Image source: The Indian Express/ Shruti Dhapola)

It can connect to WiFi by itself. You can also control music from the watch and install Spotify on the device. I could control Spotify music playback on my iPhone from the watch, but you’ll need to link it through the Garmin Connect app. You will need a premium account on Spotify to access some features.

You can also store some Spotify songs on the device (650 in total). But it turned out to be quite a task no matter what I was doing. The app kept insisting that I had to set up WiFi to download music to the watch. No matter how many installs and uninstalls I did, nothing seemed to fix the problem. For the record, when connecting WiFi, the watch indicated that the connection was successful. Eventually, I just gave up on this piece of music download. I guess there’s a technical reason why it didn’t work for me, as it worked well with other Garmin devices, which I reviewed earlier.

Garmin Venu 2 Plus review: The fitness bit

There is no doubt that this is an excellent fitness watch. There are several modes here to satisfy the average user. From swimming to running to the treadmill, from strength training to golf workouts, the watch covers more than enough for users. Step tracking is largely accurate, and yes, the watch will remind you if you’ve been standing still for too long. It’s something I needed more in the past week as I recover from another virus. The watch can also track stress levels, and it’s generally accurate. He understood that I was getting stressed trying to sort out this WiFi problem. It can track menstrual cycles, hydration levels, and more. for those who like to go deep.

garmin, garmin venus 2 plus, garmin venus 2 plus review, The Garmin Venu 2 Plus comes with several fitness tracking modes. (Image source: The Indian Express/ Shruti Dhapola)

I’ve used the watch for swim sessions and found the data to be largely accurate. This sometimes added a jump to the distance count even when I was standing still, although the final number it reflected for the total distance I had swum was accurate. It was accurate with walk and hike data. The auto-detect feature is perfect, especially when you’re walking around. The only thing that confused the watch was the number of floors I climbed. While I was outside on a trip to the Himachal mountains, the watch convinced me that I was climbing a lot of floors. I wasn’t, I was just on a very slow, rocky climb.

garmin, garmin venus 2 plus, garmin venus 2 plus review, Swimming data was tracked very accurately on the watch. (Image source: The Indian Express/ Shruti Dhapola)

Yes, the watch can also detect your blood oxygen level, which has become a must-have feature these days. You can access it through the watch’s Health Snapshot feature.

Garmin Venu 2 Plus review: Software, battery

I’ve reviewed several Garmin watches now, and I can safely say that the user interface didn’t grow on me. This can get confusing for me. You can swipe down on the home screen and access all of your stats for the day. You can press the top button once to start a new exercise session and keep your favorite exercise options at the top of the list. All of this is fine. But I would have appreciated an easier way to access all apps and settings. For example, I have to long press the bottom button to get to settings. Just give users the ability to access settings without having to jump so many hoops. With this watch, I still don’t know how to access certain things, which isn’t ideal.

The battery life will easily last a week for heavy users. Garmin promises 11 days of battery life. All of this assuming you don’t keep the GPS on for long periods of time. With the GPS on all day and without music, the promised autonomy is 22 hours.

Garmin Venu 2 Plus review: Should you get it?

The Garmin Venu 2 Plus is a good high-end fitness smartwatch. It’s sleek, has useful smart features, will let you take calls when needed, and the battery life should suffice for most users. This is for someone who doesn’t want the same old Apple Watch or the Samsung Galaxy Watch series, which is now based on WearOS. If you take your fitness game seriously and don’t mind spending a premium on the device in question, the Garmin Venu 2 Plus is a stylish device to consider. There’s also the Garmin Venu 2S, which is slightly cheaper but doesn’t have the option to take/make calls.

It can often take a football club’s supporters a while to create a popular song or chant for a player. However, that shouldn’t be the case for Fabio Vieira once his move to Arsenal is complete.

In a summer transfer seemingly out of nowhere, it was reported on Thursday afternoon that the Gunners were closing in on signing the midfielder from Porto after agreeing to pay 40m euros (£34m) ) – a fee below his release clause – for the 22-year-old’s services.

All that remains for Vieira to do is complete all the formalities for the move, including undergoing a medical at the club’s London Colney training base and signing his five-year contract to officially become the second confirmed transfer for Vieira. ‘Arsenal this summer so far after a deal for Marquinhos was announced earlier this week.

READ MORE: Arsenal news and transfers LIVE: Fabio Vieira confirmed, Martinez inquiry, £34m move to Tavares

Then it will be a matter of unveiling the midfielder, having his shirt number confirmed before joining his new teammates for pre-season training where he will likely be included in the squad that travels to Germany for the first of two abroad. tours this summer.

And it’s in some of the pre-season fixtures that Gunners fans can sing the perfect song for Vieira thanks to the midfielder sharing the same surname as a club legend and former captain whose chanting can often be heard at the Emirates Stadium and during away matches to this day.

The lyrics of the song – when Patrick Vieira was playing for Arsenal – read: “Vieira woah, Vieira woah.

“He comes from Senegal.

“He plays for Arsenal!”

‘Vieira woah, Vieira woah.’

Of course, for Fabio Vieira, the lyrics should change slightly because he’s from Portugal and so the song would be: ‘Vieira woah, Vieira woah.

“He comes from Portugal.

“He plays for Arsenal!”

‘Vieira woah, Vieira woah.’

Given that Arsenal fans have created some brilliant songs for Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Benjamin White over the last 12 months, it shouldn’t take too long to come up with one for Fabio Vieira once. his transfer completed. especially since the perfect already exists.

Bad habits die hard. And the proof is music piracy. While there has been a decline in illegal downloads of songs and albums in recent years, it seems that young Europeans still listen to music illegally. So what’s going on?

For a long time it was believed that Spotify and other music streaming services had succeeded in convincing the most reluctant music lovers that it was in their interest to pay to listen to their favorite songs.

It seems that this message may not have been heard by Europeans under the age of 24. They still resort to piracy to listen to the latest tracks from their favorite artists, according to a recent report by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

To reach this conclusion, the organization interviewed more than 22,000 young people between the ages of 15 and 24. They come from the 27 countries of the European Union, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Romania.

REVIEW: AKA and Megan Thee Stallion prove that “talking about music” doesn’t matter anymore

A third of respondents have illegally used, listened to (streamed or not) or downloaded audiovisual content in the past 12 months.

This fraudulent practice is particularly widespread in Malta, where 43% of respondents said they intentionally use illegal sources. It is also common in Belgium, France and Estonia (29%). However, piracy of audiovisual content has fallen sharply in Lithuania and Portugal since 2019.

The influence of influencers?

From movies and TV shows to e-books and sports content, the entire audiovisual sector is affected by piracy. While many internet users consume both legal and illegal content, most Europeans surveyed by the EUIPO listen to music legally.

Only 15% of respondents “exclusively or mainly” listen to songs and albums of illegal origin. This trend is particularly marked in Bulgaria (27%), Romania (24%) and Greece (21%).

So why do so many young Europeans still resort to music piracy when streaming platforms offer millions of songs in their catalogs? It is above all a question of price.

The majority of respondents (55%) say they use fraudulent sites to consume audiovisual content in order to save money. This argument is mostly cited by young people living in Eastern European countries, including Estonia, Slovakia, Croatia and the Czech Republic.

Nearly 30% of EUIPO respondents also say difficulty finding a specific item is the reason they turn to fraudulent sites.

Another notable fact is that influencers also play a (minor) role in the rise of piracy. Some 8% of respondents said they had done so on the recommendation of a celebrity… Proof that all the advice on the internet is not worth following.

In a way, streaming services like Spotify have made things so much easier for music lovers by giving us access to a virtually limitless catalog of music from around the world with just one subscription. But sometimes, your playlists on Spotify get a little too much to manage, causing you to spend a lot of time searching and browsing through them to find your jam. But these tips and journeys can help you organize your Spotify playlists.

Organize your playlists using folders

Spotify has a desktop and web feature, “Create Folder” that will save you the hassle of finding the perfect playlist. All you have to do is group similar playlists together for easy access. You can organize them by decade, genre, or mood. All you need to do is go to the desktop app or web player, right-click on a playlist, create a folder, and give it a name.

Keep your music library up to date

That playlist you created last year when you decided to only listen to UK boring music from just one obscure producer? It might just need an update. If you have Spotify Premium, you can simply tap the “Improve” button at the top of the playlist to let the app suggest custom song additions that match other songs in the playlist. In an interview, long after making a name for himself in playback singing, KK would recall being sent to music lessons as a child and hating them. It seemed to him that by emphasizing the do’s and don’ts, they were putting “limits” on the music. The singer, who died at 53 after a concert in Calcutta on Tuesday, had grown up with music of all kinds played in his home in Delhi. He had developed an ear, and after his decision to forgo formal training, it was this nurtured ability, along with his innate talent, that helped him gain a foothold in the recording studios of several film industries.

KK, born Krishnakumar Kunnath, rose to prominence at a time when the Indipop wave that in the 90s had changed the way music was made and performed in India was beginning to recede. Two tracks from his 1999 debut album, “Yaaron” and “Pal,” became hits largely because they expressed a sense of loss and longing that resonated instantly with a generation of listeners in threshold of adulthood. His big Bollywood breakthrough, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’s song “Tadap Tadap” had a similar effect, being part of the soundtrack to many real-life stories of unrequited love and heartbreak. The fact that these songs were in danger of becoming clichés actually speaks to their appeal.

As a performer, KK transformed his early disdain for “boundaries” into a chameleon-like ability to take on different personalities and tap into the emotional core of any song. In doing so, he helped a society, arguably devoid of articulation in matters of the heart, to find words and melodies to do so. His songs became an important part of the emotional trajectory of a generation of music lovers who, he once admitted, did not always recognize him when he performed in concert. But they always, without skipping a beat, sang along with her song.
