Celebrate the Lunar New Year at Dickson

There will be plenty of entertainment at the Lunar New Year Festival in Dickson.

An outdoor festival celebrating the Lunar New Year will take place in Dickson over three weekends, starting in late January.

Dickson’s Woolley Street will transform into a kaleidoscope of colors, sounds, tastes and activities to welcome the Year of the Water Tiger.

The celebrations will include musical performances, demonstrations and workshops in dance and martial arts.

Taking place from Thursday January 27 to Monday January 31 (the eve of the Lunar New Year), then February 3-5 and February 10-12, there are plenty of opportunities to have fun. Entertainment will be offered between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and during the day on Saturday.

Holding the festival over three consecutive weekends, as opposed to one large street festival, will increase COVID safety and help support more small businesses in Dickson.

Festival highlights will include music from the ANU Chinese Classical Music Ensemble, Kim Yang, Ding Guili and Lucy Sugerman, as well as performances from Project Beats and Red Cedar Traditional Chinese Dance.
