First Look: The Magnificent Al Wasl Dome at Expo 2020 Dubai

When you enter the Expo 2020 site, you are almost automatically drawn to the iconic Al Wasl Dome. The circular structure rises amid all the other amazing architectures that dot the 4.38 km² site.

Considered the “beating heart” of the Expo 2020 site, Al Wasl Plaza connects the site’s three themed areas.

Win Expo 2020 passes, cameras in the new RTA contest

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the launch of a photography competition to mark the opening of Expo 2020, offering participants to win cameras and passes to participate in the biggest show in the world.

In order to facilitate public participation, the competition has been divided into three phases.

Phase I will mark Public Transport Day and will be launched in October to encourage people to make public transport their first choice of mobility to get from their location to the Expo site. The trip includes a 2020 route of the Dubai Metro and Expo Riders.

Phase II of the competition will be launched in November. Participants will be required to photograph the city’s landmarks and eye-catching localities they encounter on their journey to the Expo site. This phase focuses on constructed road networks, overflights and service roads.

The third phase will be launched in January and marks the final stage of the photography competition. It focuses on tourist attractions open to visitors, where tourists can take cultural tours and savor tours of world-class squares and malls.

Official app to plan your trip

Less than 2 p.m. before the official opening of the mega fever, Expo 2020 fever is taking hold of Dubai. Afraid to browse the site of the World’s Fair the size of 600 football fields? No need to!

Expo 2020 Dubai has launched its official visitor app and a business-focused app, enabling millions of visitors to make the most of the visually striking and inspiring 182 days of the mega event.

The official Expo 2020 app allows users to tailor their visit to the Expo and match individual interests to create a personal calendar of events and attractions on the site that is twice the size of Monaco.

Visitors can use the app to purchase tickets, choose from over 200 dining options and themed culinary events, and manage reservations for Expo 2020’s intelligent Smart Queue system – giving customers the option to book a convenient time slot to visit a lodge of their choice, and avoid the queues.

The app is available for download via the App Store or Google Play. It will allow visitors to create an Expo 2020 account or link their social media account, as well as access an interactive GPS map of the Expo site and step-by-step directions to points of interest at the Expo. Expo.

A chatbot on the app will provide information on how to make visiting Expo 2020 safe and enjoyable, including details on opening hours, parking options, and how to get to the Expo using Dubai’s many public transport options.

Where to catch the fireworks

Dubai will light up at three locations with spectacular fireworks tomorrow, October 1, after the official opening of Expo 2020.

Fireworks will light up the night sky at 8:30 p.m. at Dubai Festival City, The Frame and The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah. More details here.

The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on 40 venues

The opening ceremony of Expo 2020 Dubai will be broadcast live to more than 430 venues across the United Arab Emirates.

Screens will be installed in locations ranging from airports and shopping malls to hotels and other landmarks, relaying the incredible musical and cultural performances as they occur. You can find the full list of locations here.
