How to use Twitter’s new Bitcoin tipping feature

Twitter recently released a new feature that allows users to tip their favorite content creators – using Bitcoin. Named Tips, the feature will allow Twitter influencers to earn money from anywhere in the world without any geographic restrictions. Twitter has partnered with Strike, a platform built on the Bitcoin Lightning Network, which can execute instant international payments with virtually no cost. Twitter added a small money icon that, if enabled, would appear on the creator’s profile, informing others that Bitcoin tips were accepted.

Here’s what you need to do if you want to send tips to people through Twitter:

How to send Bitcoin cheats on Twitter

Sending tips through Twitter is pretty straightforward – all you need to do is follow a few simple steps. Here’s how to send a Bitcoin tip via Twitter:

  1. Download and register on the Strike app. The app is available for download for Android, iOS as well as a browser extension.

  2. Deposit the Bitcoin you want to send to someone as a Twitter tip into your non-custodial Strike wallet. Non-custodial wallets allow users to hold and own their private key while having full control of their funds. The keys are protected in encrypted storage.

  3. Find your way to Twitter and navigate to the profile of the person you want to send the cryptocurrency advice to and press the money icon – it shows that the account holder accepts Bitcoin tips.

  4. Click on Next and if you wish, add a short message with your tip. You can also continue without having to add a message.

  5. Now select the open wallet option and you will find yourself redirected to your non-custodial wallet, where you first deposited your Bitcoin tip.

  6. Click on confirm payment – and just like that, the Bitcoin tip loaded in funds is instantly transferred to the other wallet.

The functionality was first deployed for iOS users and will gradually be available for Android users. For now, the functionality of the Strike app is currently available in El Salvador as well as most parts of the United States.
