“I am a celebrity” 2022: who is Chris Moyles?

Ant and Dec wanted it i am a celebrity for years, and now Chris Moyles has finally agreed to take charge of the jungle series.

The radio DJ has had his fair share of controversy in his career, but it looks like he may have taken on more than expected as he joins Matt Hancock, Boy George and Seann Walsh in the upcoming series.

Who is Chris Moyles?

Chris Moyles, born February 22, 1974, is best known as a radio DJ and television presenter.

Moyles began his career while still in school, hosting hospital radio shows. This then gave way to stints at local radio stations Aire FM, The Pulse of West Yorkshire and Signal 1 in Stoke-On-Trent.

In 1996, he joined Capital FM, where he maintained a notorious rivalry with DJ Neil Fox. This resulted in an Ofcom complaint against him after comments made on Fox on air.

He joined BBC Radio One in July 1997 and remained with them until September 2012, during which time he spent eight years as host of their breakfast show.

During this time, he also moved into presenting, doing bits on big brother’s big mouthThe big breakfast, Top of the pops and Chris Moyles Quiz Night.

Moyles’ blunt and irreverent form of presentation often sparked controversy and complaints, with some of his comments at the time being seen as homophobic and sexist.

This included comments about ‘wanting to take Charlotte Church’s virginity when she was 16’, referring to not wanting ringtones because she ‘was gay’, mocking Will Young and referring to women peeing under the shower like “whores”.

This earned him the nickname “bad boy” of radio.

In 2012, he was named as one of the celebrities alongside Jimmy Carr involved in a tax evasion scheme.

He has been with his longtime girlfriend Tiffany Austin since 2015.

Chris Moyles, by his own admission, isn’t sure whether to enter this year’s contest i am a celebrity is the best idea… but it’s too late to go back now.

Speaking ahead of the show’s release, he said: “Some people say if something scares you then do it. But I strongly believe you shouldn’t be scared! I’m also a big fan of my own comfort zone.”

“In the past, I have always said no to offers to participate. But this year, I didn’t say no immediately and ended up going to a meeting,” Moyles added. “Now I don’t know why I said yes. But I’m a big fan of the series and I know what I’m getting into! My friends who have done it before tell me I will have a great time.

While admitting he’s not petrified by heights, he also has another horrible endurance test he needs to work on… not being able to have a good old cup of tea.

“I’m such a Yorkshire man, not having tea will be hard to accept,” he said. very delicate. I stay well out of the kitchen too. I don’t want to poison my fellow campers!”
