The Sims FreePlay players cannot download or update the game

The Sims FreePlay is a life simulation game developed by Electronic Arts Mobile. Unlike its desktop counterpart, The Sims FreePlay is a free-to-play game that was released on iOS in 2011 and arrived on Android in February 2012.

The game allows players to create up to 34 characters and customize their home however they want. Additionally, players can also visit other people’s cities and bond with their characters.

Unlike the PC version, The Sims FreePlay requires players to guide the characters they’ve created and perform actions on their behalf. Eight years after its initial release on iOS, the game added the much-requested autosave feature.

Since EA frequently offers content for the game, it is only natural for gamers to encounter bugs and issues with the game.

Having said that, gamers are now facing an issue with the game. user reports, many The Sims FreePlay players cannot download an update.

Players say they are greeted with the error “An error occurred while downloading resources” every time they try to download the update.

So I downloaded the update tonight and it was fine (I started playing Sim Chase and Influence Island), but the next time I open my game I get a screen saying that I need to update to continue, then I get an error message when I click continue.

It then asks me if I want to try again or quit, and I get another error message when I click retry. Basically my game won’t register that the update has been downloaded (and the game icon hasn’t changed), and I can’t open it now. What should I do?

My data is generally stronger than my wifi and the download fails. And it’s just… not… even… trying to start…

Players say they can’t download The Sims FreePlay update even if they’re connected to Wi-Fi. What initially appeared to be a connection issue turned out to be a server issue on the developer side. .

Fortunately, EA quickly recognized the issue and said it was working on fixing the bug, but there is no ETA on when players will be able to play the game again.

In the meantime, EA advises players not to update the game and if they have already done so, wait for the developers to come up with a fix.

We will update this area once EA resolves the issue preventing players from downloading The Sims FreePlay update.
